50 Million German Bank Customers Can Now Buy XRP
Germany's Sparkassen savings banks have switched on XRP trading inside their banking app, XRP launched its official account on X, and Cross River Bank is building RLUSD into its core banking system. Plus: oil climbs to $111, Lantern's new homepage goes live, and naming a beneficiary on your account is free.
Hey Lantern Community,
Germany's savings banks started selling XRP inside their banking app and XRP finally got its own official X account. Let’s get into it!

XRP
50 million German bank customers can now buy XRP
On October 19, Germany's Sparkassen Savings Banks switched on crypto trading inside their banking app. XRP is one of five launch assets, alongside Bitcoin, Ether, Solana and Polygon.
The rollout is slow on purpose. Each savings bank picks its own start date. The group expects 30 to 40 banks to switch on each month, with most of the network connected by the first half of 2027.
XRP gets its own X account

On October 19, XRP got its first official account on X: @XRP, run jointly by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation. Its first post read "hello, world. It's about time." The account passed 25,000 followers on its first day, and the opening post drew more than 500,000 views.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse welcomed it, calling the launch a long time coming. The account links to xrp.org, a new plain-English explainer on what XRP is, how the ledger works and how to send it safely.

The bank behind X Money and Coinbase is adding RLUSD
On October 15, Cross River Bank signed a deal with Ripple to build RLUSD, Ripple's dollar stablecoin, into its core banking system on the XRP Ledger. Cross River is the bank behind major fintechs and neobanks like X Money, Coinbase, Stripe, Revolut and Affirm.
Its business customers will be able to move money between dollars and RLUSD through one connection, including ACH, wires and payments outside banking hours. For now it's only available in a few US states.
That puts RLUSD inside the plumbing that already moves money for some of the biggest apps in finance. Lantern already supports RLUSD for loans and trading.
Macro
Oil climbs to $111 as attacks spread across the Gulf

Brent crude reached $111.05 on Monday, its highest level since May. Yemen's Houthis claimed strikes on Saudi energy and airport targets, including an Aramco site in Yanbu, the Shaybah oilfield and Riyadh's main airport. Saudi Arabia hadn't confirmed any damage. Shipping tracker Kpler counted at least 18 vessels reportedly attacked over two weeks.
Higher oil feeds straight into the Fed's inflation problem. Traders don’t expect a hike at next week’s meeting, but they see a strong chance of at least one more before the end of the year. If that happens, borrowing across the economy gets more expensive.
Lantern Spotlight
A new homepage, and a reminder about beneficiaries

The new Lantern homepage is here. We rebuilt it around the questions people ask us on calls every week. How much can I borrow? Where does my crypto go? How does Buy Boost work? Is it safe? Those answers are now built into our website. Take a look around and tell us what you think!
A reminder: you can name a beneficiary on your account, free. Most people who borrow against crypto are planning in years, not months. Naming a beneficiary makes sure that plan covers what happens if you can no longer manage your account yourself. Some lenders charge $1,000 to set this up. At Lantern it costs nothing. Text us at (415) 365-0100 and we'll help you set it up.
The biggest Bitcoin fund in the market just had its best day in a year, and one of Europe's largest banking groups now lets everyday customers hold XRP.
Borrow, trade and manage your crypto on one platform, with loans from 8%, 0% liquidation fees, and 72 hours to respond to a margin call.
